FINE DINING

Effie Ophelia is an intimate, BYOB, restaurant in dowtown Lancaster on gallery row. The menu changes seasonally as the restaurant incoprotates local produce into its fare. Once inside, you may think you are in an exclusive restaurant in Manhattan or on Newberry Street in Boston. Keep in mind that although they do not accept reservations, they do allow for call ahead seating on the day you would like to dine there.

Haydn Zug's has won several local and national awards for dining experience. Their traditional house provides a private atmosphere for large parties and romantic setting for a couple. The food is fabulous and the service is superb.

Gibraltar is well known around town for its Mediteranian cuisine and relaxing atmosphere.  The seafood is fresh and the menu is creative.

Mazzi  offers food with French and Italian undertones and tries to incorporate local produce. A European style restaurant, where the cuisine is creative and the wine list is not to be missed.

Carr's has an eclectic menu with many local options. The wine list is extensive. Located in the basement of a building across from Central Market - it is a hidden gem. 

Log Cabin is known for its art as much as for its food.  Tucked away in a cul de sac at the back of a wooded neighborhood, it is an easy restaurant to miss. The  American style menu includes a variety of steak, chicken, and seafood dishes.

The Pressroom is located in downtown Lancaster. During the summer months the Pressroom offers outdoor dining in beautiful Stineman Park. The menu reads like a newspaper and changes seasonally.

John J. Jeffries provides seasonal, organic or chemical free American cuisine. All of the produce and meats are from local farmers. The creative menu offers many options.

The Belvedere Inn has an intimate setting with a variety of food offerings. During the summer outdoor dining is available on the second floor terrace. Crazy Shirley's, located on the second floor, provides lives jazz on Saturdays and Sundays.

Strawberry Hill has an extensive wine list.  It has a seasonal menu with creative offerings. One of the owners is always nearby to greet you and discuss your wine preferences and culinary experience.

The Restaurant at Doneckers offers American cuisine in a casual environment. The restaurant is located across from Doneckers department store in Ephrata.

CASUAL DINING

Doc Holiday’s is a steakhouse - of course they also have chicken, seafood, and ribs.  Its Lancaster location is on Franklin & Marshall College's campus.

Lancaster Brewing Co. is a microbrewery with a large bar and extensive menu.

Lancaster Dispensing Co. has a huge menu for a tavern. The restaurant is open later than most Lancaster establishments with a closing time of midnight from Monday through Saturday.

Prince St. Cafe is not your ordinary coffee shop. Located across the street from the Fulton Opera House, the cafe offers Italian sodas, coffees, lattes, sandwiches, salads, art, and more. They offer free wifi and live music.

Tobias S. Frogg is casual dining in a casual atmosphere. They offer a big menu including everything from stuffed baked potatoes to filet mignon.

Symposium offers Mediterranean and American cuisine. During warm weather they have outdoor seating. The kitchen is open later than many ... it closes at 11 pm.

PA DUTCH

Good' N Plenty provides a unique dining experience to locals and visitors alike.  Delicious, authentic Pennsylvania Dutch cooking is served Family Style in the remodeled two-stories Dutch farmhouse. Be sure to visit the famous Bake Shop, where you can purchase some of the best goodies found in the area -- all baked fresh daily.

Plain & Fancy is located midway between Bird-in-Hand and Intercourse, and nestled in the heart of PA Dutch Country surrounded by Amish farms and beautiful countryside.  Experience the tradition of pass-the-platter dining and enjoy a veriety od attractions and shopping nearby.

INDIAN

Taj Mahal is known for its authentic Indian cuisine.  They offer a large menu with a large variety of vegetarian options. When they say spicy they mean it. They give you the option of choosing how hot you want your food from 1 to 10, 1 being very little spice and 10 being spicier than anything you may have ever tasted before.

 

JAPANESE, CHINESE, THAI, VIETNAMESE

Wasabi offers Japanese, including sushi, and Thai cuisine. The decor includes a coy pond, 3 booths with tatami mats, and tables made private by rice paper walls.

Lanviet is a diamond in the rough located next to a Dollar Store on Lincoln Highway. The food is Vietnamese and the prices are low. The Phó is always a good bet, but they have a large menu with many vegetarian options.

Lemon Grass is a award-winning Thai restaurant known for its innovative dishes.  The diverse and flavorful meno has something for everyone, from spicy to mild dishes including a variety of choices for Vegetarians.

Mojo's offers an extensive Asian menu.  Fresh products, creative sushi and beautiful presentation.  A perfect combination of upscale decor with excellent service.

ITALIAN

Pasquales is a neighborhood Italian restaurant with good food and a great atmosphere. They have the typical Italian restaurant fare, but also offer a few American standbys for those not in the mood for Italian food.

Rosa Rosa is beautifully decorated with an Italian country  elegance and provides outstanding service.  Owned by a traditional family, Rosa Rosa brings to Lancaster the Italian fine dining experience.

Ciro's has opened recently at Richmond Square. An authentic Italian bistro with a relaxed atmosphere.  The pizza is unique and the creamy gelato is a must.

 

SOUTH AMERICAN

El Serrano has authentic Peruvian and Mexican fare in an atmosphere that makes you think you will need your passport to return home when you are done with your meal. They have live music on the weekends and don't take reservations.  Although they have a huge amount of dining space they still fill up so be prepared for a wait of 30 min or more during the rush, which can be passed while having a drink at the bar.

 

FRENCH

Rachel's Cafe and Creperie is a true creperie. They offer all sorts of crepes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or dessert. They have indoor and outdoor seating at cafe style tables.
